1. Who provides this service
Data Cleaner is provided by Aleksander Wąsowski, ul. Broniewskiego 24A.28, 07-300 Ostrów Mazowiecka, Poland (“we”, “us”). Contact: kontakt@awwebdesign.pl.
This service is operated as a free personal project. It is not a registered business, it sells nothing, and no commercial relationship arises between us when you use it.
2. What the service does
You upload a CSV file. The service does two things to it: it merges values that appear to be spelling variants of the same category, and it fills in missing values using a method chosen per column. You are shown what it intends to do and approve it before anything is changed.
3. It is free, and there is nothing to buy
The service is provided free of charge in its entirety. There is no paid plan, no subscription, no trial that turns into a payment, and no way to give us money. We do not ask for payment details and we have no means of accepting them.
The pricing page describes features that are planned. Planned means planned: nothing there is on sale and nothing there is promised. If a paid plan is ever introduced, it will be offered under a new version of these terms, and no existing use of the free service will be turned into a paid one.
4. Who may use it
The service is intended for people aged 16 or over. We do not verify age, so this is a condition of use rather than a technical barrier. If you are under 16, please do not upload files.
5. No account required
Uploads made without signing in belong to the browser you made them from - anyone using that browser session can reach them, and you cannot reach them from another device. Signing out ends that ownership.
6. Accounts
Signing in is possible only through Google. We do not create or store passwords. You are responsible for the security of the Google account you sign in with. You may delete your account at any time from your account page; deletion is immediate and irreversible.
7. Limits
- files up to 3 MB;
- one cleaning run per day without an account, three per day when signed in;
- files are deleted 24 hours after the upload;
- analysing a file - seeing what the tool proposes - does not count against the daily limit.
Additional automated rate limits protect the service from abuse. They are not part of what we offer and may change without notice.
8. What the result is, and what it is not
Filled-in values are estimates, not recovered facts. Where a value was missing, the service produces the most plausible value given the rest of the data. That value may be wrong. It was never in your file, and no processing can make it true.
The service takes this seriously: it refuses to fill columns with too many gaps, and it declines columns too weakly related to the rest to be predicted, inserting a simple constant instead of a guess. It reports each of these on the results page. These safeguards reduce harm; they do not eliminate it.
Check the result before relying on it, and do not use filled values as the sole basis for a decision with consequences for a person - medical, financial, employment or otherwise. Keep your original file. The service deletes everything after 24 hours and is not a storage or backup service.
9. Your obligations
By using the service you confirm that:
- you are entitled to upload the data in your file and to have them processed - in particular, where the file contains other people's personal data, that you have a lawful basis for doing so;
- you will not upload content that is unlawful, nor attempt to disrupt the service, circumvent its limits or gain access to other users' sessions.
Please do not upload data you cannot afford to have processed by a third party at all - passwords, payment credentials, health records or similar. The service detects and skips columns that look like credentials, but that is a safeguard, not a guarantee.
10. Availability
The service is provided as it is, without a guaranteed level of availability. It may be unavailable during maintenance or failure, and it may be changed or discontinued at any time. Where a change materially reduces what you get, we will say so on the site.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes: our liability for damage caused intentionally, our liability for harm to life or health, any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, or the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
Subject to that, and because the service is supplied free of charge and without any commercial purpose, our liability towards users who are not consumers is limited to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.
Please read section 8 before relying on a result. Filled-in values are estimates, the service says so at every step and marks every column it declined to predict; what you do with them is your decision.
12. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend access in case of a serious or repeated breach of these terms, particularly attempts to circumvent limits or to reach other users' data.
13. Complaints
Complaints can be sent to the address in section 1. We will answer within 14 days, to the address you write from. If you are a consumer, you may also use out-of-court dispute resolution; participation is voluntary for both sides.
14. Changes to these terms
The current version is always the one on this page, with its date. If we change it materially, we will announce it on the site. A new version applies to use of the service after it appears; it does not apply retroactively to runs already made.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by Polish law. Nothing here deprives a consumer of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence.
Annex A - Data processing terms
This annex applies only when a file you upload contains personal data of other people. In that case you are the controller and we are the processor, and Article 28 GDPR requires the arrangement below. Accepting these terms concludes it. It is offered as it stands; we are not able to negotiate individual agreements.
Subject matter and purpose
Cleaning the file you upload: merging spelling variants of categories and filling in missing values, exactly as you approve on the configuration screen. We process the data only on your documented instruction, which is the run you start.
Duration
From the upload until the file is deleted, at most 24 hours later. There is no separate deletion instruction to give: deletion is automatic and cannot be switched off or extended.
Nature of the data
Whatever your file contains. We do not select, inspect or classify it, and we ask you not to upload special categories of data or credentials (section 9).
Confidentiality
Access to the server is limited to the person named in section 1, who is bound to confidentiality. Files are not read as a matter of routine, are never used to train anything and are never disclosed to anyone.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. An upload is reachable only by the browser session or account that made it, and every view checks ownership. Files are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
Sub-processors
The hosting provider named in the Privacy Policy, which operates the server, is our only sub-processor for uploaded files. You give general authorisation for it; we will announce any change on this page before it takes effect, and you may stop using the service if you object.
Assistance and breaches
Given the 24-hour deletion, requests from data subjects are best addressed to you; we will help as far as we technically can. We will notify you without undue delay after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting your file.
Audit
We will provide, on request, the information needed to demonstrate compliance with this annex.
